Lovehoney Desire Love Egg Vibrator Review

When I was on the hunt for a new love egg, this one from lovehoney ticked all the right boxes: made from luxury silicone, rechargeable, waterproof and has a wireless remote. It’s a bit on the pricey side at £60 but I was willing to pay a little more for all these benefits.

Immediately the packaging radiates class, its a lovely deep purple and charcoal grey colour scheme featuring the love egg and remote beautifully pictured in the centre. Upon opening the box I found a sleek and stylish black storage case all zipped up with the toy in hard plastic packaging within the case, along with a charging cable and instruction booklet. The hardy compact black case even has a little hole in it so you can charge up your love egg without removing it from the case, for extra discreteness and cleanliness. All of these little touches makes the egg feel luxurious.

This beautiful purple love egg is made of super soft silicone. It feels amazing to run my fingers across, it’s clear this is a very high grad product. I love the deep rich purple colour that all the desire range come in.

To charge up the toy simply unscrew its tail and put the pin end of the charger into the egg. Then attach the other end to a USB port. It’s got a helpful light that flashes when the toy is charging and remains constant when it is fully charged. It charges up pretty quickly as well, not much longer than an hour I’d say, and the charge lasts a pretty long time (I recharged after every 2 to 3 sessions).

To get the remote to work you have to slide off the the plastic back, twist off the battery compartment (easier said than done), then remove the tab over the battery reassemble the whole thing. I find the inner battery compartment really difficult to get open, you have to twist and then pull it off, which is a weird feature given that the remote is not waterproof.

To turn the egg on you can just press the button on the lower part of the egg near the tail (you can feel its slightly raised) for a few seconds until the light comes on, then click it again to set the egg vibrating on the middle speed. Clicking the button again will scroll through all the settings, so you can select your favourite one and then insert the egg if you like.

However, the best way to use the toy is with the remote. To do this you press the on button on the egg until you see the light, then you hold down the middle button on the remote until a light turns on on the remote. Then pressing the up button on the remote will set the egg buzzing away. This is a much better way to play for two reasons: 1 you can insert the egg before it is buzzing, which is easier to do, 2 you can control both the speed and the functions using the remote without having to remove the toy. Also the remote is the only way you can change the speed (of which there are 12 levels, plenty to play with), as far as I can tell.

In use, this toy feels great, it’s got three constant speeds and several patterns to chose from. The pulsing patterns feel good against my G-spot, and I love the sensation of my kegel muscles clenching around the egg as I get closer to climax. However, The egg is does not have powerful or rumbly enough vibrations to allow me to achieve orgasm using it alone. It could be due to its wonderfully soft high grade silicone diluting some of it’s power, or it could just have a slightly weak motor inside it, either way it doesn’t lead to explosive orgasms without extra stimulation.

However, I enjoy love eggs as an addition to clitoral stimulation. They are fantastic for this, because unlike dildos they are hands free, and my vagina doesn’t tend to push them out when it contracts in response to clitoral stimulation (it does easily push out dildo style vibrators). For this use, the desire love egg is perfect, and the remote is very easy to use for both you and a partner. The remote seems to have a good range, it still worked when my partner was almost in the next room, and the egg is very responsive to each button push on the remote.

It’s not super discreet, I can still plainly hear the vibrators when its both in my vagina and my body is under a heavy duvet, so I’m not sure how good it would be for teasing play out and about. If you’re somewhere noisy, like a club or bar, then it’d probably be fine, but I wouldn’t take it anywhere quiet.

My only issue with this toy is, with so much luxury and thought gone into it’s build and packaging, lovehoney did not make the remote rechargeable. The remote is really necessary to get the full use of the little love egg, and I found I ran the battery out completely after only two sessions. It’s a tricky battery to find as well (a CR2032, whatever the hell that is) , not a normal AAA which would have been easier to source cheaply.

Overall, this is a truly lovely toy, you can tell a lot of high quality materials have gone into its production and it functions just fine. For the price tag I was expecting a little more power and a rechargeable remote; with these two additions it would have been perfect.
