The Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator was sent to me by Sh! and I must say it’s an interesting idea. Basically, it’s a rabbit style vibrator with a rotating, rather than vibrating, clitoral stimulator. The idea of this kind of stimulation really appealed to me, and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. However, my expectations weren’t quite met, but I did find an unexpected silver lining.

The Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator came in a simple, neat box like many of Sh!’s products. The outer box was a discreet solid white which could be slid off the inner box. The Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator sat comfortably nestled in a white foam cut out in the inner box. Beneath the vibrator I found the USB charging cable and a small manual. I like Sh!’s packaging, it’s simple, clean and sturdy enough for long term storage. There’s no storage pouch or bag, but I don’t think there needs to be; the box can be easily reused. Sh! was also kind enough to include a sachet of their own brand water-based lube to get me started.

First impressions of the Twizzler are good. It is made of a high grade silicone and it is very flexible. Both the shaft and clitoral arm feel almost rubber-like in their flexibility. There is definately a lot of bend and give to this toy. The shaft has a nice ridge on it about a third of the way up which I imagine would feel great against the the sensitive nerves at the opening of the vagina. The shaft is pretty straight, it does curve slightly forward but there isn’t a major curve or hook for enhanced G-spot stimulation. The smaller clitoral arm is topped by a rotating plastic wheel. There are two silicone heads which you can use to cover this wheel, a bumpy one which is covered in raised nodules in a flower formation, and a wavy one with a circular swirl of close-together ridges.

The Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator arrived charged which was great, I love being able to use a toy without charging it up first! Recharging it was simple too, there is a DC port in the back of the toy which you can plug the pin end of the charger into. The USB end can be put into any USB port (I like to use wall plugs to leave my laptop free).

At the base of the Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator is the controls. The central button is the power button. Hold it down for a few seconds and the larger shaft will buzz into life and a little LED will light up above the buttons.  Do the same thing to turn the whole toy off. Press the lower button and you can change the setting on the shaft. It has five levels of constant speed. Confusingly, it turns on at level three (one being the weakest vibration mode and five being the strongest most intense level), so clicking the lower button turns up the power for the first two clicks (on to level four and five), but the third click will put you right back down to the weakest level, level one, from where you can cycle through all the levels in order. I find this feature annoying as I often like to start on a lower setting then ramp things up a bit. This means I have to turn it on, then click three times to get it to my starting level. Also power queens might get frustrated if they are wanting to amp up past level five and find themselves suddenly on a setting lower than their starting point. If you only want to use the top three levels this wouldn’t be a problem though.

Clicking the upper button will start the clitoral stimulator rotating away. The first click makes it rotate clockwise, the second click makes it rotates anti clockwise and the third click will make it go back and forth (rotate left through 90 degrees then rotate right through 90 degrees). The fourth click will turn off the clitoral arm, but the larger arm will remain vibrating until you power off the whole thing. This means you can have the shaft on without the clitoral rotation, but not the other way around. So you can get an idea what the rotation looks like, I made a very brief video of it which you can view on Instagram. Noise wise, this is not a super discreet quiet toy, although its not monstrously loud either. A heavy duvet and a closed door should be enough to hide the noise.

The Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator is waterproof, meaning I can wash it thoroughly and use it for shower time fun. Clean up can be a little tricky around all the waves and bumps on the rotating head, and gunk can get caught in the plastic around the buttons. A bit of extra scrubbing is needed, but its not too much of a problem with some warm water and soap.

The first time I used the Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator I was really disappointed. I’d had a good warm up and I applied liberal amounts of water based lube to the shaft and clitoral stimulator before inserting the Twizzler into my vagina. I turned it on and I was happy to notice the vibrations in the shaft are nice and deep and rumbly, and they are pretty powerful on the higher settings. However, I need a good pulsating pattern or to be able to apply precise pressure to my G-spot to get much joy from internal stimulation. The Twizzler provides me with neither of these things; the shaft is far too flexible to be able to apply any G-spot pressure, and it only has constant speeds. Having said that, it does feel nice inside my vagina, even if it doesn’t work to bring me to orgasm. If the clitoral arm worked, it would be giving my kegels something nice and rumbly to grip on to.

Here’s the major let down: the rotating clitoral arm just does not feel good on my clitoris, and it’s the most interesting thing about this toy. First of all, when the shaft is inserted the rotating head is nowhere near my clit. This is often a problem with rabbit style vibrators, everyone’s anatomy is different so there is probably a vulva out there that the Twizzler fits perfectly. Unfortunately, it’s not mine. However, all is not lost! The clitoral arm is very flexible so I can bend it towards my clit and make the rotating head make contact, hurrah! If only it felt good! The rotations just do absolutely nothing for me. If anything they are uncomfortable. They grate and rub against my clit, irritating the skin rather than giving pleasure. I tried swapping the head from swirly to bumpy, adding loads more lube, and switching up the setting and still no joy. Worse still, my hand ending up getting cramp from holding the shaft in place and pushing the clitoral arm towards me. Needless to say I was not overly thrilled. I ended up finding a different toy to bring me to orgasm, giving up on the Twizzler all together.

I’ve since experimented, trying to discover is there is a way that rotating head can feel good. You know what? All this experimentation paid off. Although my clitoris always hates it, whatever I do, I have found out my anus loves it. Yep, you read that right. I flipped the whole thing upside down. Because the shaft is really flexible and fairly straight, it can be easily  vagingally inserted the other way up. In this position it does even less for my G-spot, being slightly curved the wrong way, but to be honest it wasn’t doing much for it anyway. The clitoral arm is then in the perfect position to lightly stimulate my anus. It feels incredible with the bumpy head. Add a lot of thick water based lube and you can create a sensation similar to rimming. Weirdly, my anatomy is perfect for this, I only need to hold the base to stop the toy from slipping and the rotating head perfectly touches my anus. This left my other hand free to use a separate clitoral toy, leading to a really explosive orgasm. Seriously, the inclusion of delicious anus stimulation really enhanced and the rumbly vibrations inside my vagina really added to the intensity of my orgasm.

I must be really, really clear here. I did not insert the clitoral arm into my anus. That would be very unsafe and a recipe for disaster. The toy is not designed for anal use. You could easily loose the silicone head into your anus and have to go to hospital to have it removed. I used the rotating arm as an external stimulator. Please do not even consider trying to insert it.

I found out the Twizzler excels at something after all, although it wasn’t what the designers intended. I’m overjoyed that I discovered a new sensation from this toy, which is what I hope for in every toy I test. In this way, the Twizzler Clitoral Vibrator is winning. However, maybe the word “clitoral” needs to be dropped from the name?
