I love clitoral vibrators and I love massage, so when Sh! asked me if I’d like to review a new product they are stocking that can be used for massage or as a clitoral vibrator I lept at the chance. The Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager is a neon orange palm sized vibrating pebble of fun!  It’s possibly the brightest sex toy I’ve ever tried, even the packaging is vibrant.

The packaging is large, much larger than the little toy it contains. I love that Calexotic put so much effort into the design of the box. It’s got a pop out style that I love. The box opens up like a book to reveal the Marvelous Massager behind a plastic sleeve and its USB charger nestled above it. On the back are simple operating instructions and the inside of the front panel has a little bio about Calexotics. No where on the outside of the box does this product mention that it is a sex toy. It uses the word “massager” consistently, there’s not even the mention of the word “vibrator”. The little toy itself doesn’t scream sex toy either, being shaped like a funny double pebble. So if you’d like to act naive and claim this is a product you use for solely massage, you could probably get away with it. Although the brightness of the packaging and toy means it’s the first thing your eye is drawn to when you enter a room! The box is also sturdy enough to be used for long term storage (and it’s too pretty to throw away!), although it is a little big for such a small toy. There is no travel bag or pouch to keep it in either.

Sh! only sell toys made of nonporous body-safe materials, so you know when you order from them the product is going to be safe and hygienic for you to use. The Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager is made of silicone and it feels quite rubbery to the touch.  It’s got a lot of drag to it, so a good water-based lube is a must with this product. Sh! kindly included a couple of sachets of their own brand lube to get me started. It smells quite strongly of rubber too, so the first thing I did was give a wash which reduced the smell somewhat.

There’s a faint seam running along the middle of the toy and the word Calexotics has been very faintly embossed on the top of the toy (it is barely visible, I can only see it when it hits the light, which I like, as sometimes the branding on toys cause deep ridges in the silicone which is difficult to clean properly). There are two raised buttons and a hole for the charger in the top of the toy. The box advises you give the toy a full charge before the first use, so that’s what I did.

The pin in the USB charger needs to be pushed fully into the Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager so that the mental part disappears into the toy. It looks like its too long, but believe me, it’s not. Once you’ve got the pin in simply plug the USB end into a USB port and leave it to charge. I used a USB wall plug and a full charge only took around an hour. There is a little white LED light that appears on the buttons and flashes when the toy is charging. Once the Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager is fully charged the light will switch off. This isn’t the best of systems as there’s always the worry that it has simply stopped charging when the light goes out, rather than it is fully charged, but as long as you see if flashing when you first start charging it there shouldn’t be any problems. Incidentally, my favourite charging indicator is to have a red LED that turns green, and I have only seen this once on the Malesation USB Rechargeable Tickling Vibrating Cock Ring.

There are two buttons on the Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager. The bottom button turns the toy on and off. Just hold it down for a few seconds until the LEDs light up and the Marvelous Massager buzzes into life. The top button changes the setting. All you need to do is to click it. Setting one is a low constant rumble, which get stronger for setting two and stronger again for setting three. Setting four is a fairly quick oscillation, which gets faster for setting 5 and even faster for setting six. Setting severn is a very fast pulsation, it almost sounds like it is jittering. Setting eight is the similar to setting severn except it changes its intensity from low to high roughly every second. Setting nine reminds me of a coin spinning on a desk; it starts off with a slow (ish, to be honest none of the settings are very slow with this toy) pulse that gets faster and faster. Setting ten is a more regular pulsation of two quick pulses followed by one longer one. Click past setting ten and you begin again at setting one. You have to scroll through all the settings to find the one you want if you happen to go past it, which is slightly annoying but 10 settings aren’t too many to deal with. To turn the toy off simply hold down the bottom button for a few seconds. A fun feature is that the LED lights under the buttons flash and change intensity in time with the patterns. It’s not necessary at all, as you can feel and hear what setting you are on, but it’s a little bit of fun. It’s fairly quiet too, I think you can be fairly discreet with this toy.

One thing I don’t like about the button setup is it is easy to forget which button is which. I have often clicked the bottom button hoping to change the setting, finding that nothing happens. It’s not too much of a problem, but something simple like making the bottom button indented with an on symbol would have made it easier to remember and to make sure your finger is on the right button.

The shape of the Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager is designed so that it slots between your fingers, rather than you having to grip it. This is particularly good if you happen to have problems with grip. There’s a deep ridge either side that I can comfortably slot my fingers into. This was particularly good when I was using the Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager as an actual massager (rather than a sex toy). I used lots of thin water based lube on the toy and my partner’s back. I then used the toy along with my hands across his back, massaging it into any tense spots. He said it felt really nice, and although it doesn’t have the power a magic wand has to dissipate knots, it does really help to relieve tension. I must say, I am really impressed with how rumbly the vibrations are from such a little toy. So it works well as a little massage aid, but how does it work as a sex toy?

Surprisingly well! If you are a big fan of vibrations that cover a large surface area, something you can cover your whole vulva with, this is the toy for you. Those rumbly patterns feel really nice, especially if I actually apply pressure and massage my clit. I’m usually a fan of precision, and I must say that using the flat side on my vulva did take me a long time to orgasm. Having said that, I did orgasm, which is impressive without the pin point stimulation my clit is used to. If you, like myself, do prefer a smaller surface area, you can use the side of the toy. I find if you use the very bottom of the toy, the flexible fins meant to sit between your fingers, it feels really good, and much more precise. I loved sitting one fin below my clit and another above it and massaging them up and down. This lead me to a much faster and more intense orgasm than placing the flat side against my body.

I also used the Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager with a male partner. I placed it on his testicals and rubbed it up and down the back of his shaft. It made a great variation to a normal hand and blow job. He said it felt really nice and definitely added a more intense feeling to play time. So if you happen to have a penis, this could be an enjoyable toy for you too!

The Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager is fully waterproof, so you can use it as a relaxing massager in the bath or shower. Cleaning it is also very easy, I can wash it thoroughly in warm water and soap, and there are very few ridges for gunk to get stuck in.

Overall, I really enjoyed the Calexotics Mini Marvels Marvelous Massager. Sure, it might not be the most incredible, explosive orgasm-inducing robot I have ever tried, but it’s simple and it feels nice. It’s discreet enough you could leave it lying around and no one would know what it was. It’s bright and fun and very orange, it makes me think of the summer time. Also, it’s a great couple’s toy; you can easily transition from a relaxing to an erotic massage and it feels nice on a vulva or a penis or your aching back muscles.
