Mantric is Lovehoney’s new range of no fuss, high quality sex toys. Each comes in a beautifully simple cardboard box with the Mantric logo on on the front. I absolutely adore this design, there’s something so satisfying about the simplicity of it. I like it so much I’m actually going to keep it as a toy storage box, rather than recycling it which is what I do with most packaging nowadays.
Inside the box is lined with black foam to keep the products safe. Nestled inside my box was a vibrating love egg, remote control, USB charger and a small booklet of instructions.
The Mantric vibrating love egg is a lovely pinkish purple colour. It’s a slim egg shape with a long tail and finger loop for easy retrieval. It is made from a high quality silicone and it feels really nice and velvety soft to the touch.
The remote control is a black ring shape. The circular shape makes it easy to hold on to. it also has the mantric symbol on it. It is made from plastic.
Both the egg and the remote are rechargeable using the same USB charger (it has two pins that go to one USB). I love that they made the remote rechargeable, as my main peeve about the Desire love egg is that the remote took batteries. I charged both up fully before the first use. You have to push the pins in to the charging port through the silicone the first time you do it. This can be a bit nerve wrecking, because of worry you might damage the product by pushing so hard, but it does take a firm push to get the pin in to the egg fully. The remote is far easily to plug in.
There are LEDs on both the remote and the egg that flash when the Mantric vibrating love egg and remote are charging. They stay solidly on when the products are fully charged. I used a USB wall plug and it took a few hours to charge.
To use the Mantric vibrating love egg you first need to turn on the egg by holding down the small button on the base of it. It will flash and will buzz into life. Then you can turn on the remote but holding down its single button for a few seconds. Once the remote is on too you can scroll through the settings by pressing the button on the remote. You can also scroll through them by pressing the button on the egg, which could be useful if you ever lose the remote. Since you will probably want to change the settings while the egg is inside your vagina it makes a lot more sense to use the remote to control it.
There are three constant speeds, each faster than the last, and four patterns to choose from. You can scroll through each in turn by pressing the button on the remote, when you click the button the eighth time the egg turns off, and you’d have to click the button again to get it to switch back on at the lowest speed. You can turn the egg off at any setting, however, by holding the button down for a few seconds.
The remote has a light along the edge of it that flashes in time with the current pattern on the egg. So if it is pulsing the light pulses, if it is oscillating the light gets brighter then dimmer again. This is a fun feature because it tells the person using the remote what setting the egg is on. However, if you were planning to take the egg out about about in public the light could reduce the subtlety somewhat.
I found the Mantric remote control love egg vibrator really easy to insert. It is fairly slim, so with a little water based lube I found I could easily slip it into my vagina. Then I had a play with the settings. I found that the egg is really responsive, changing setting right away when I clicked the remote. This was great. I also found the shape very comfortable, my vagina would grip it giving me a gentle kegel workout.
The vibrations are quite buzzy, particularly on the higher constant speed settings. I like strong deep rumbly vibrations for my internal toys, so the buzziness of the Mantric remote control love egg vibrator was a disappointment to me. However, the vibes still felt nice, and there was lots of fun to be had, if not orgasms. I really enjoyed using the egg during oral sex, for example. It didn’t get in the way at all and felt really great every time my vagina contracted in pleasure.
In a quiet room the vibrations coming from the egg inside my vagina were clearly audible. I expected them to be almost completely muffled but this was not the case at all. I tried walking around the house with the egg in and could hear the vibrations everywhere. Having said this, once I put on the radio and the washing machine, and there was quite a bit of background noise, the noise from the egg was drowned out. If you are planning to play in public I think you’d have no problem somewhere like a noisy pub or club. A romantic restaurant may be too quiet though and lead your waiter to wonder what that weird buzzing noise is, particularly on a pattern setting.
One thing I am very impressed by is the range of the remote. I asked a partner to use it on me from the other side of a large room and it still worked perfectly. I love the ease at which I can change the settings too, and the ability to let someone else control it.
Overall, I like the Mantric remote control love egg vibrator. It functions well, it’s fairly quiet, the remote is really responsive with a great range and most importantly it’s fun. If the motor was better it would be damn near perfect. I must say though, this is the best vibrating love egg I have tried so far. I imagine there’s a lot of fun times to be had with it if you enjoy sneaky public play.
If you’d like to buy your own Mantric remote control love egg vibrator you can find it at Lovehoney here (UK).
I would like to thank Lovehoney for sending me the Mantric remote control love egg free of charge in exchange for an honest review. This in no way altered my opinion of the product.
