Christmas is nearly upon us again, and what better way to celebrate than with a Sex Toy Giveaway? This year I’ve teamed up with three fantastic sponsors, and there’s three separate prizes you can enter to win! Many thanks to all of you who’ve read my blog this year, particularly to those of you who’ve offered me support through leaving me comments, sharing my content, or using my affiliate links. Your support is noticed and very much appreciated.
2018 has been a bit of a stagnant year for me. I had a lot of major life changes in 2017, and I’ve felt very much this year like I’ve been treading water, waiting for the rest of my life to begin. A lot of this feeling comes from the fact that I’ve been trying, and failing, to conceive because I have PCOS. As I write this I’ve only just found out that I’ve been denied fertility treatment on the NHS (free healthcare in the UK). This is a major disappointment for me, but not one I mean to dwell on in this year round-up and general spreading of Christmas Joy.
2018 has had it’s upsides, of course; I’ve shared with you how I managed to get rid of my HPV and cervical abnormal cells, I had a very successful spring clean where I gave loads of my sex toys away to new homes (hopefully I’ll repeat this in 2019, with some lingerie added in to the mix!), I’ve hosted three giveaways, and I finally got around to writing a Womanizer comparison review (that was out of date almost immediately when they launched the new version of the Starlet, but hey ho). I’ve also spoken more about my Depression, particularly to do with motivation, and shared an experience that hopefully made people think about how important enthusiastic consent is. I finally got around to putting my thoughts about squirting into a blog post, and I started the year with a bit of a rant about how sex toy companies could do better. I’ve also written 6 posts that just share the work of other sex bloggers. Although I wish I had kept up the practise of #SOSS, the truth is I’ve been lacking the energy these posts need to produce. And of course, I have written many sex toy reviews.
I’ve made it on to Kinkly’s top 100 sex blogging superheroes list for the third year in a row, also making their top 10 lists for their LGBTQI category and their Eroctica category. Although I am so flattered to make the cut, I was immediately flawed by imposter syndrome. I feel like an imposter because my blog contains very little erotica, unlike fantastic erotic bloggers like Posy Churchgate, who did not make the shortlist, despite her being a regular (and very talented) writer of erotica. My blog also has very few posts that talk about my sexuality, and none to day that talk about my gender. I feel like a fraud being included in that list alongside bloggers that frequently include LGBTQI content, and when fantastic LGBTQI bloggers such as Bex Caputo of Bex talks Sex did not make the list. Although I don’t think I deserve my placement, I’d like to thank all of you who nominated me, and the Kinkly staff who spent time and effort compiling the list. I’d also like to thank Ella, Aurora, Posy, and Shelly for nominating me for Molly of Molly’s Daily Kiss’s top 100 sex bloggers list. I’m not sure yet if I’ll make the cut for that one, Molly doesn’t expect the list to be ready until December. Many thanks to Molly for all her hard work creating this list for the community.
Throughout 2018 MissJezebella.com has evolved and grown and I expect it will continue to do so. I’ve gotten a lot more picky about what sex toys I will review, and I tend to favour writing my sexual opinions pieces over the reviews. I’d love to be able to write more erotica for you to enjoy, but its very hard to get the time and space to do it, when I have other ideas or products to review which might bring in a bit of money. I still put a lot of effort and work into the sex toy reviews, because I want to be able to genuinely help people when they are deciding whether or not to buy a product. However, my heart is more in my personal pieces. Sadly, me spouting my opinions does not make any money, without the small income I make from affiliate sales (mainly driven by people searching for sex toy reviews) I would not have been able to continue blogging. My sex toy reviews are important for many reasons.
