I absolutely love it when a company comes out with a newer version of a toy that not only has improved features, but stays at the same price point as the original. That’s exactly what Womanizer have done with the Starlet 2; it’s design is so much better than the original, but it’s stay at the same price of around £65, which is the cheapest of all the womanizer models.

Packaging

 

 

The Womanizer Starlet 2 comes in simple yet stylish cardboard box, featuring the product visible through a clear window in the centre. It’s functional and well designed, but probably wouldn’t be good enough for long term storage.

 

The back of the box lists the basic features of the Womanizer Starlet 2 in several languages, and on the side it has the words “life changing” printed on it. This is a pretty bold claim from Womanizer, and I would say no individual sex toy will change your life (but perhaps owning a few good quality ones will improve your experience of sexual pleasure).

What’s inside the box?

Inside your cardboard box you get the Womanizer Starlet 2, a multi-lingual instruction booklet, a USB charger, and an odd business card that says #IMASTURBATE. I’m not sure what Womanizer really expect me to do with that card. Give it to a friend? Wear it with pride? But whatever, I’m sure their crack team of designers had a really good reason for including it.

Charging up

 

 

Before using the Womanizer Starlet 2 for the first time I charged it fully. The magnetic charging point clips easily in place to the two metal points at the base of the toy, then you can plug in to any USB port. I used a wall plug and it only took a couple of hours to be fully charged. Whilst it is charging a white LED will flash within the head of the Womanizer Starlet 2, this light will stay constantly on once the toy is fully charged. The magnets felt strong enough that I don’t worry about it slipping off charge.

Design, Features and Controls

The Womanizer Starlet 2 is made mainly from ASB (hard) plastic, which you can get in 3 different colours, red, blue or coral. The sample I received is coral. I like that the colour choices are different from the usual black / white / purple that sex toys often come in. ASB plastic is a good, body safe material for a sex toy to be made from. The head of the Womanizer Starlet 2 is made from silicone, which is softer and more malleable, and a great body safe material. The Womanizer Starlet 2 is small, measuring only 4.5 inches in total length.

On the back of the Womanizer Starlet 2 are two control buttons. The top button is larger and has an indented plus sign on it, and the lower button is smaller with a indented minus sign. This design makes each button easy to identify by touch alone, which is really important when you need to change the setting during the heat of the moment.

Controlling the Womanizer Starlet 2 is simple. Hold down the plus button and the toy will turn on, the head will glow to let you know it is on. Once on, clicking the plus button will increase the intensity up through the four levels. Clicking the minus button will decrease the intensity. Holding down the minus button down will turn off the Womanizer Starlet 2, indicated by the light in the head going off. This is a sensible design that is intuitive to use.

Using the Womanizer Starlet 2

Using the Womanizer Starlet 2 is great. I love this kind of intense clitoral stimulation, and I’ve find that Womanizer are the best at it. The silicone head fits comfortably around the head of my clit, and the deep thudding pulsating air that comes from the head leads me to orgasm in minutes. It’s easy to hold on to and to push the buttons, and I’ve found I can also use it for some extra clitoral stimulation during PiV (penis in vagina) sex, particularly in the spooning position.

The only downside to the Womanizer Starlet 2 is that it only has 4 intensity levels, which doesn’t give you much to play with in comparison to the more expensive Womanizer models. The Womanizer Starlet 2 favours the lower end of the intensity spectrum, which I personally enjoy, but some people may find it a little weak.

As most of toys of its type, the Womanizer Starlet 2 is fairly loud during use, especially when not in contact with skin, but it is quieter than the original Starlet. If you need a toy to be whisper quiet, this is not the ideal model for you.

Clean up

Cleaning the Womanizer Starlet 2 is safe and easy. All the materials can be fully sterelized if you intend to share it, and the silicone head can be removed completely so you can clean it thoroughly, or buy a replacement if it gets damaged. The Womanizer Starlet 2 is fully waterproof too, so you can confidently wash it with soap and warm water after every use.

Improvements over the original Starlet

 

I’m going to end this review by directly comparing the Womanizer Starlet 2 to it’s original version, just call the Starlet. The Starlet 2 is an inch longer and has a gentle curve to its handle, which makes it much easier to hold on to, particularly if you want to use it during partnered sex. The Womanizer Starlet 2 has two control buttons, rather than only one that the original had. This is an improvement because it means you can easily scroll up and down through the intensity levels as and when you need to, rather than being stuck scrolling through them in one direction. I like to amp the intensity up and down when I masturbate with these kinds of clitoral stimulators, so I really appreciate this improvement in design. The Womanizer Starlet 2 has a magnetic charging point, rather than a micro USB one that is covered by a silicone tab. This is a big improvement because it allows the Womanizer Starlet 2 to be 100% waterproof, meaning it stays water tight and is easier to clean.

Overall, I’m impressed by the Womanizer Starlet 2. It’s a great toy with an appealing price tag, and would be perfect as a travel toy if you already have a larger model.
