The Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator is part of Lovehoney’s current Sex in full colour campaign which is about embracing your sexuality, you can view the full range here (USA) or here (UK).
The Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator is a cute little budget clitoral vibe, with lots of the perks of higher end toys. It’s made of body safe silicone, its USB rechargeable, waterproof and comes with a practical storage bag. However, I found the vibrations too buzzy and the settings too numerous for my taste, and the pleasure it brought me was hit and miss. Having said that, if you’re a fan of lots of patterns and precise vibrations on your clit, it could be a good addition to your toy box.
Packaging

The Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator comes in a stylish display case, featuring the vibe on the front. It has a a magnetic clip holding the front down, when you open the flap you can peak inside at the actual toy.

Whilst this design is useful if you are shopping in a store, it’s kind of pointless at home, as the “open here” tab doesn’t actually open the box; you have to destroy the cardboard box to open the glued down top to get at what’s inside.
What’s inside the box

Inside the box you get the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator, a USB pin end charger, a instruction booklet and a nice little black drawstring storage bag. The bag is good quality and it is nice to see a practical storage solution included.
Charging up

To charge the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator, you need to push the pin end of the charger through the silicone seal right under where it says DC at the base of the toy.

Plug the other end into any USB port. The base of the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator will light up with a white flashing LED while it is charging which will stay constantly on once it is fully charged.
Features and controls

The Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator is controlled by a single button at the very base of the toy. It has a travel lock feature which was on when my toy arrived. To unlock it you need to double click the button, or plug it in to the charger. Double click it again to lock the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator so it can’t accidentally switch on if you are travelling with it.
Once unlocked, you need to hold down the button for about 2 seconds to turn the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator on, and the same action will turn the vibrations off. To change the setting of the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator simply click the button quickly.
The Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator has a whopping 20 functions, 3 constant vibrations, each faster than the last, then 17 different patterns. Basically it’s any patterns you could possibly want; a mixture of pulses and oscillating waves. If you love exploring vibration patterns, you might enjoy this. Personally, I hate this design. The patterns do nothing for me, and because you can only scroll in one direction if I click past a setting that I like I have to click the button 20 times just to get back to where I was! Frustrating to say the least. In my opinion 5 patterns are enough for any vibrator, I’ve never seen a sex toy review that says “vibrator was great but I only wish it had another 10 or so patterns to choose from”.
Using the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator

In use the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator was very hit and miss for me. The vibrations are of the harsh buzzy variety, and although it has a silicone tip that is loose so it can “flick” up and down (you can see a slow mo video of it in action on my Instagram), this does little to dampen the sharpness of the vibes. You also can’t tell that its “flickering” per se.
The weakest constant vibrations mode isn’t strong enough to do more than warm me up, but the next speed up is so harsh it can be almost painful to my poor clit, despite a good dollop of cushioning lube (a water based lube is essential with this toy, you don’t want the friction of that pointy silicone on dry skin: ouch!). Most of my tries using the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator left me unsatisfied and either giving up or reaching for another toy to finish with.
Having said that, I did have a couple of good orgasms using the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator. What I like about it is the vibrations are condensed to a very small tip. This is perfect if your clit enjoys really precise stimulation, which mine is partial to. Twice I managed to get the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator to hit just the right spot, and force my body through to orgasm. However, the orgasm was quite shallow, and over quickly, and more often than not the vibrations would begin to feel unpleasant due to their buzzy nature before I could climax. The Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator usually left me tired and frustrated. I’m a lazy masturbator and its just too much like hard work.
Finally, if you see the word Flickering and are reminded of oral sex, you’ll be disappointed. There is absolutely nothing about it that even comes close to simulating the intense pleasure of oral.
Summary

Overall, I’m not a fan of the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator. It has too many modes for its single push button control and none of them make up for its harsh buzzy motor. Sure, the tip flickers, but I find it’s a harsh unpleasant sensation most of the time, which requires a lot of lube to be tolerable.
It’s such a shame, because there is a lot to like about the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator: it’s affordable, rechargeable, waterproof, silicone, comes with a nice storage bag and has a simple travel lock. The precise tip of the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator, if paired with a better motor, could be really pleasurable for people who enjoy intense pin point condensed stimulation. In it’s current state it’s just not good enough for me I’m afraid.
If you know you do enjoy precise, buzzy vibrations, and you think 17 patterns would be super fun to explore, the Lovehoney Ignite Flickering Vibrator may be right for you. You can buy it here (UK) or here (USA).
